Got a preschooler who needs an early learning experience that's play-based and curiosity-driven?

Apply Now for Fall Enrollment in 2017-2018 Early Childhood Classes, and Join in the Adventure Day Fun!

Applications received by March 22nd will be invited to attend PNA's assessment playdate on March 25th from 10 am to 12 noon. Children spend the morning "camping" with teachers and potential classmates. Students will sing songs, have a snack, play number and letter games, draw pictures, and create camping-themed crafts. This play date allows teachers to observe and assess your child for school readiness in a fun, activity-filled setting.

While the kids explore PNA, parents are welcome to stay for refreshments and to participate in a question and answer session. Learn more about our school and what it means to be a PNA family. We'll explain project based learning, 21st Century skills, and how we educate students to be exceptional learners and independent thinkers.

Pacific Northern Academy's Early Childhood programs are a unique opportunity for Anchorage families.

The full-day program provides a nurturing and child-centered environment that provides a solid foundation for future academic success. Beginners and Early Kindergarten use The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool, a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. The Foundation helps teachers create a high-quality learning environment and build a thorough understanding of best practices. And Daily Resources help teachers plan and manage every moment of their day. Through studies, which are hands-on, project-based investigations, The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool helps teachers build children's confidence, creativity and critical thinking skills and promote positive outcomes. Engaging themes and hands-on instruction provide a developmentally appropriate path to learning for reading readiness, math, science, social studies.

PNA honors academic aptitude and works with parents to set individual goals for students. The days are full but always include recess and a quiet time. Social learning is a centerpiece of the program. Following the principles of Responsive Classroom, children learn to express feelings, build friendships, and resolve conflicts. Independence is nurtured as students are encouraged to take care of their personal possessions and participate in classroom jobs. Students meet twice each week with PNA's Specialist teachers for instruction in Spanish, Studio Art, Performing Arts, and Physical Education. They also have the opportunity to engage in a variety of rich experiences such as service learning, the Science and Engineering Festival, and field trips into the greater Anchorage community, including musical and theater performances, the Campbell Creek Science Center, and the Anchorage Museum.

PNA's Beginners and Early Kindergarten classes are open to students who turn three and four by September 1st of the year of enrollment. Two teachers work with a maximum of sixteen students in the Early Childhood classrooms, Monday through Friday from 8:30am-3:20pm. Extended Day Care is available from 7:30 am to 8:30 am and 3:20 pm to 6:00 pm, and is included in the cost of tuition. The Early Kindergarten Program follows the PNA school year calendar and closures.
