A school supporter has pledged $150,000 to the 2007-2008 PNA campaign. This donation and an additional $25,000 pledge from another supporter are being offered to the school as challenges:
• $100,000 Challenge gift to be awarded when donations of $5,000 or more reach the $100,000
mark.
• $25,000 Challenge gift to be awarded when campaign reaches $275,000.
• $50,000 Challenge gift to be awarded when campaign reaches $450,000.
The campaign goal is $500,000. The funds will be used to fund a combination of scholarship and educational program support, including the school’s outstanding visual arts and performing arts programs. All PNA students benefit from the strong curriculum, talented faculty and individual attention that our giving campaign makes possible. Community members are encouraged to donate at the level that works for their family. Please contact the school office at 907-333-1080 or pharris@pacificnorthern.org to make a donation.
Dear Friend:
Pacific Northern Academy is reaching out to you to request your support so that we can sustain our success in providing an outstanding education to Anchorage school children. Since our founding twelve years ago, PNA has filled a unique place among Anchorage schools by offering a rigorous academic program that is characterized by creative and innovative teaching and learning of unparalleled richness.
The evidence is overwhelming that the PNA approach to education is working: Fifty-four percent of PNA's second through eighth graders who took the ERB testing last year scored above the 95th percentile in the math and/or verbal portions of the exam. These students were then invited to participate in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. The highest SAT verbal score and second highest combined verbal/math score in Alaska were earned by a current PNA student. In addition to the types of growth that register through standardized testing, we also see our students growing as artists, writers, performers, and participants in sporting events. Involvement in service learning efforts helps our students grow into individuals who care about the community. PNA teaches to the whole child and we see our children growing in all of these ways.
Community support is critical ingredient to PNA's continued success. PNA is committed to serving an economically diverse student body. With 25% of our student body receiving need-based financial aid, we depend on support from our parents and the wider community. There are many ways to support PNA. Here are a few of them:
- An unrestricted donation to the Annual Fund will support all PNA
students by helping to fund school operating costs and fund special
programs.
- A designated donation can fund the PNA program of your choice.
- A donation to the Scholarship Fund will help to sustain our
commitment to proving a PNA education to promising students of all
economic backgrounds.
- Support the PNA Auction. This incredible event raises
approximately $500,000 in a single evening. An underwriting donation
ensures helps to ensure the success of this signature event. Go to the
PNA Auction web site to find out how to help.
- Endowment gifts are those in which the principle is preserved
and the income supports the school. PNA's endowment is managed by Alaska
Endowment Fund, Inc.
I look forward to your participation in our community of supporters.
Please call the PNA office at 907-333-1080 to make a donation.
Sincerely,
Mark Niedermier
