What a pleasure it is to see children enjoying themselves!
What a joy it is when your daughter or son comes home and, with excitement, expresses their delight about a teacher, a new discovery or accomplishment at school.
Excitement is alive each day at PNA… Pacific Northern Academy. We provide:
o A rich curriculum that connects academics to meaningful things in a child’s life – home, community and the world
o A faculty we’ve chosen for their philosophy, vision, talent and enthusiasm
o An environment that encourages and supports students to pursue their interests, become confident with who they are and develop a love of learning.
While academic success is a priority at PNA, test-taking is not a particular focus of our day with children. Nevertheless, PNA students consistently exceed Alaska scholastic benchmarks and place in the top 10% nationally.
More important than numbers at PNA is a student’s engagement with learning. Education is not just about intellectual development, but one that combines academics with physical, ethical, and emotional growth. Children begin to mature knowing how to study, how to make decisions and solve problems. They also experience and learn compassion.
Our outdoor education and travel programs enable students to travel throughout Alaska. Older students learn to sail in the Puget Sound, study civics and U.S. history in Washington, D.C. and enrich their foreign language and cultural studies by traveling abroad. Upon graduation from the eighth grade, these youngsters are highly prepared for high school, college, career and life.
I hope you’ll take the time to visit me here. I’ll be pleased to arrange a tour of our building and introduce you to teachers as well as parents who regularly come to participate in our community of learning.
Sincerely,
Mark Neidermeir
