About PNA
Pacific Northern Academy serves approximately 120 students in Early Childhood through Eighth Grade. We are a project based independent private school located in south Anchorage, Alaska, valuing 21st-century learning principles and advanced, whole child education. PNA’s program also emphasizes visual arts, performing arts, foreign language, and community service.
Admissions Director

 

The Admissions Director is responsible for increasing enrollment of qualified students and meeting yearly enrollment goals for Pacific Northern Academy, an independent private school in Anchorage, Alaska. A crucial member of the Administrative Team, the Director of Admissions oversees all admissions and enrollment programs, including but not limited to: introducing prospective parents to PNA, overseeing all aspects of the admissions process, conducting enrollment orientations, managing communication with parents and teachers, coordinating transitions and class placements, managing re-enrollment, and ensuring all programs are enrolled at maximum capacity. The Director of Admissions is both an integral part of school life and PNA’s ambassador to the community. Reporting directly to the Head of School and as a member of the senior administrative team, the Director works closely with the Preschool Director, the Program Leadership Team, the Parent Association and Board of Trustee Committees.

Pacific Northern Academy serves approximately 120 students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. At Pacific Northern Academy, insightful teachers and a thoughtfully integrated curriculum couple academic achievement with the excitement of active learning and intellectual exploration. PNA’s program also emphasizes visual arts, performing arts, foreign language, and community service. Pacific Northern Academy is a private school located in south Anchorage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all admissions and enrollment for the entire school 

  • Create and implement an annual admissions and enrollment plan that is reflective of PNA’s mission and strategic plan with clearly defined goals

  • Meet all admissions and enrollment goals

  • Report monthly enrollment details to Director of Finance for Finance Committee review

  • Prepare updates and communications to share with the Board of Trustees as necessary 

  • Use data to inform decisions

  • Participate in weekly administrative team meetings

  • Create and implement sustainable admissions systems

  • Present PNA to prospective families, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communications with families

  • Serve on the Financial Aid committee and assist in awards

  • Manage School Administration Software

  • Collaborate with Business Office to ensure accurate student billing

  • Communicate effectively with program directors and teachers on all enrollment-related matters

  • Oversee all retention-related activities to meet school-wide retention goals

  • Oversee all recruitment-related activities to meet school-wide recruitment goals

  • Collaborate with marketing firm to plan and execute programs that affirm and enhance internal and external perceptions of PNA

  • Oversee communication and scheduling of tours 

  • Serve as a strategic and practical voice for all admissions-related activities 

  • Provide all admissions-related data as necessary

  • Initiate and complete follow up communications, such as emails, personal notes, and phone calls with the timing and touch that exemplifies extraordinary customer service 

  • Serve as a PNA ambassador 

  • Attend all PNA community events

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications 

  • Four-year degree in marketing, education, business or related discipline required

  • Passion for working in schools

Teacher

Pacific Northern Academy is seeking several talented, compassionate, and creative teachers who view themselves as lesson designers and lifelong learners with a love and enthusiasm for learning.

Duties Include:

  • Designing and implementing developmentally-appropriate curriculum and projects,

  • supporting the social and emotional development of the children,

  • helping children build independence,

  • and maintaining positive and professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as early

childhood education, elementary education, or child development. Prior

experience is a preferred.

Enrichment Instructors 

Are you an artist, inventor, coach or tech-savvy person who loves teaching kids? Then we are looking for you. PNA is seeking individuals or organizations to provide enrichment classes for students after school, on weekends and during school breaks. As a PNA Enrichment Program Instructor are responsible for organizing and facilitating classes focused on your contracted activity. Preparation time may be necessary outside of the course time. You are expected to facilitate snacks and carry out courses as scheduled. Substitute Teachers 

PNA is currently seeking on-call substitute teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.
