PRESCHOOL

LOVING and SAFE

“I have friends in my class…”

In our Preschool classrooms, we focus on each child’s social development and positive associations. Everyday we see how our students are growing and developing their love for learning; with intentional, compassionate effort we guide them towards fun, safe engagement, finding their friends, and participating within a diverse group of peers. From a parent’s perspective, you’ll know that you are setting your child up for success when you hear all the happy stories coming home.

“I love to imagine and explore…”

Children are naturally curious, to encourage this curiosity we nurture their individual ways of learning about the world around them. By getting on their level, PNA teachers engage our young students with exciting, interactive, and play-based activities that help foster their life skills and ignite their sense of exploration. We balance the structured environment that helps each child grow their academic and social/emotional skills, while also providing the freedom to enjoy the learning process. Everyday, students relish outdoor recess as an important outlet to express their energy. Students also benefit from integrated instruction from professionals in art, music, Spanish, and physical education.

“I know my ABCs…”

Children want to learn and are excited to do so, here at PNA we work to foster that interest with intention. We support every child individually so they feel confident as they grow socially, emotionally, and academically. In our Preschool academic program, we provide structured time to build a base for math and language skills igniting a spirit of inquiry for life and learning. In the end, we want every child to excel in our programs, which is why our preschool emphasizes kindergarten readiness.

What will my child experience day to day?

The Preschool classroom environment and materials encourage learning through curriculum-driven, hands-on projects and purposeful play. Daily activities include question-of-the-day, morning meeting, play centers, academically integrated project work, outdoor recess, and age appropriate rest time. All students enjoy integrated classes with professional teachers in music, studio art, PE, and Spanish classes throughout the week.

What makes the PNA preschool more than a daycare?

The nurturing guidance and support of our Preschool teachers fosters positive social development as children gain self-awareness, learn to recognize their emotions, and learn to interact with their peers. Children enjoy routine, learn good hygiene, and self-care habits. Independence is nurtured in the Preschool classroom as students are encouraged to take care of their personal possessions and participate in classroom jobs. Our small class sizes and class ratios help promote this environment for individualized instruction.

Students meet twice each week with PNA’s teachers for integrated instruction in Spanish, studio art, music, and PE. They also have the opportunity to engage in a variety of rich experiences such as service learning, scientific experiments, and field trips into the Anchorage community.
