"We educate students to be exceptional learners and independent thinkers of vision, courage, and integrity."
An exceptional learner is someone that thinks outside the box, finds creative solutions to solve challenging questions, and takes academic risks.
An independent thinker is someone that asks questions, tries to figure things out, and takes the time to reflect afterwards.
A person with vision is someone who is creative, imaginative, and dreams big with their future goals.
A person with courage is someone that isn't afraid to try despite potential failure, and learns from everything.
A person with integrity is someone that is honest, thoughtful, and owns their choices.
Preschoolers have been busy with Fall projects!
The PNA mission statement has been the backbone to our community for the past 25 years. It is a phrase we all know well, it not only applies to our students, but for all of us connected to PNA. The goal being to establish a strong foundation for personal and professional success, however success is defined by each individual. We believe that part of what makes our community so special is our on-going commitment to honoring this mission, which includes investing in our staff's on-going education through professional development. By providing different outlets to grow, our team becomes better equipped with the skill-set needed to stay relevant within this fast, ever changing world.
Students in 5th/6th grade designed and constructed cell models based on the organelle anatomy of a cell.
Last week, our teachers attended the virtual NWAIS Fall Educators Conference, titled, "Every Student Counts: Assessment for Growth and Equity in the Age of Covid and Beyond." The conference had several speakers, including Rick Wormeli, the topics of discussion aligned with present experiences in education today and brainstormed the possibilities for needed change. Like most things, each teacher gained something different from the conference, but overall I think it helped re-ignite a passion for learning. There have been so many obstacles this year, yet despite everything, despite our exhaustion, we are all still here pursuing our hopes and dreams like we always have.
Students from Middle School, 3rd Grade, and 4th Grade are busy in their classrooms!
In the end, the investment in our staff and teachers only allows us to be better prepared for the unknowns. We model what our mission means, teaching students how to ask the challenging questions, seek creative solutions, and to take the time to reflect on the outcomes. This approach to learning enables them to think outside the box and to not be afraid of taking risks. As exceptional learners and independent thinkers, students and our community learn to dream big, never give up, and to own the choices we make--this is the PNA way.
